Tilston Memorial Collection of Canadian Military Medals
 

This Online Exhibit allows you to search for Medal Recipients, browse different medals and look for recipients by a theme from the Tilston Memorial Collection.  

This site will continue to grow as more medals are added from the Canadian War Museum Canadian Military Medals collection.

Supply Line Second World War
 

The FCWM supports educational initiatives such as the Supply Line project which reaches students across Canada.

The Supply Line program is a free, hands-on learning experience that brings the Canadian War Museum into your classroom.

Designed for object-based learning, Discovery Boxes contain authentic and reproduction artifacts related to Canadian military history, along with tools to help teachers lead engaging activities and lessons.

Book Reviews by John Anderson  

John Anderson is a long-time member and volunteer with the Friends.  John has reviewed over 20 books for the FCWM former publication The Torch.

The Danger Tree by David Macfarlane

The book is much more than a war story. More accurately, it is the story of the family of Josiah and Louisa Goodyear of central Newfoundland, particularly their six sons and one daughter. (Josiah and Louisa were the author's great grandparents.) It is also a history of modern Newfoundland, particularly Lord Northcliffe and the advent of the Anglo Newfoundland Development Corporation in 1909 and extending through confederation with Canada in 1949 to the modern day.

Broadcast from the Front by A. E. Powley

This is a remarkable book that unfortunately failed to make much of an impact when it was first published in 1975. And now that we are starting to better appreciate and recall our military history, it is long out of print. As the preface points out, this is a story from the remote antiquity of broadcasting, when state-of-the-art was a record of three-minutes duration cut on a spring-wound machine, and when the recording and transmission of the sound of an artillery barrage or a falling bomb was considered a wonder.
